Professor Tuulia Hy?tyl?inen holds PhD from University of Helsinki in analytical chemistry. Since 2016, she is professor of chemistry at ?rebro University. Her research focuses on metabolomics and environmental (exposome) studies, with an emphasis on comprehensive metabolite profiling to reveal metabolic changes driven by disease, environmental exposures, nutrition, or genetics. She has developed high-throughput methodologies for both untargeted discovery and targeted analyses, using advanced chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques. A key challenge in her work is the identification of unknown compounds, addressed through the development of software tools for large-scale MS data processing. Professor Hy?tyl?inen’s current research areas include diabetes, fatty liver disease, traumatic brain injury, and exposome science. Her group has identified biomarkers for diagnosis and early prediction of disease, as well as metabolic pathways altered by toxic exposures and nutritional interventions. She currently coordinates large collaborative EU project “Investigation of endocrine-disrupting chemicals as contributors to progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease” (EDC-MASLD). Professor Hy?tyl?inen co-authored 253 peer-reviewd publications, with an h-index of 75 (Google Scholar).
